Jouka has been awarded the Smart NRG Carbon Neutral Certificate

10.1.2025

Jouka has received the prestigious Smart NRG Carbon Neutral Certificate in recognition of its responsible energy use and efforts to promote carbon neutrality. This certificate highlights the company’s commitment to sustainable development and reducing its environmental impact.

Ambitious sustainability efforts

Jouka has actively transformed its energy use and business practices to align with the requirements of sustainable development. In 2022, the heating system for the company’s 3,500 m² production and office facilities was converted from natural gas to district heating, which is now beginning of 2025 carbon-neutral. At the same time, the building’s HEVAC control systems were changed to a modern and integrated solution.

Towards carbon-neutral operations

Since 2020, all electricity used by Jouka has been sourced from renewable energy. Additionally, the company has invested in sustainable transportation: over half of its vehicle fleet now consists of electric vehicles, and all diesel fuel used is biodiesel. To support electric mobility, Jouka is currently building charging stations for electric vehicles and offers its employees an e-bike benefit along with charging facilities for bicycles.

Vision for the Future

“We are proud of this recognition, which reinforces our commitment to responsibility and sustainable development. The successful companies of the future are those that invest in sustainability and innovation,” says Petri Mikkonen, leader of Jouka’s Green Team.
